Kings North GC - For over twenty-five years, the North Course at Myrtle Beach National has been one of the most requested and best recognized course on the Beach. The par-3, 3rd hole with its island green and SC-shaped sand traps is the signature hole for all of Myrtle Beach.  In 1996, Arnold Palmer and the Palmer Design Group returned to Myrtle Beach National and transformed the North Course into a brand new course --- one of the most visually exciting and challenging courses in America.   Voted “Course of the Year” and a Golf Digest “Top 10 New Course”.

River Club GC - The semi-private River Club has proven to be one of the most challenging course in the Myrtle Beach area. This Tom Jackson signature course is one of the premier "plantation" courses and a favorite among returning golfers.

Litchfield GC - Among the initial eight courses built on the Grand Strand and ranked as one of the "World's 50 Best" by Conde Nast Traveler.  The gracious charms of this exclusive country club "signature course" are enjoyed by a limited number of visiting golfers. The mature tree-lined fairways wind amid giant oaks and shimmering lakes of a former Carolina rice plantation, creating an extraordinarily challenging "country club" experience. This traditionally styled layout is the flagship of the historic plantation courses.

Willbrook GC - Carved from the site of two Carolina plantations, Willbrook Plantation Golf Club is is considered to be one of the best designs from noted architect Dan Maples.  Located on the south end of the Grand Strand, Willbrook winds its way amid a centuries-old oak forest where nature abounds. It was recently featured on the award-winning television show "Nature Scene" for its peaceful coexistence of golfers and nature.

Waterway Hills GC - Waterway Hills Golf Club is a "signature course" designed by Robert Trent Jones and one of only 2 RTJ designs at the beach. The layout is "classic" Jones, with strategic landing area's crowned greens and superb bunkering. When the enclosed gondola whisks you across the Intracoastal Waterway, you'll find 27 superbly maintained holes, set amid woodlands and lakes in tranquil seclusion. Waterway Hills offers a traditional design with a rolling terrain and strategically placed bunkers.

International World Tour Golf Links - Inspired by the greatest courses in the world, the International World Tour Golf Links is the stuff golfing dreams are made of.  Now you can experience the thrill of playing replica holes inspired by some of the world’s most famous layouts; Pine Valley, Augusta National, TPC at Sawgrass, St. Andrews. They’re all here and more.  Each turn takes you to a special place and the memories of great shots you've seen in tournaments played around the world.  You can travel the globe and spend a fortune in airfare and greens fees or you can tee off here and see the world from Myrtle Beach.  This is a course you will never forget and a “Must Play” for golf trips to MB.  Come early on Wednesday and play this gem … and don’t forget your camera!

*NOTE:  We will update this section regularly as questions come in prior to the event so be sure to check back frequently (and refresh your browser each time you visit).  If you have additional questions not answered below, please email them to us at info@golfconnect.com

Q. When/where does the event take place?
A.  The Myrtle Beach 2006 Two-Person Team Challenge will be played March 22-26 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina at 5 different premier golf courses.  Visit www.myrtlebeach.com for an overview of the area and to request a Visitors Guide.

Q. Who is eligible to participate?
A.  This tournament is open to all golfers (men and women) who normally score 95 or less on 18 holes.

Q.  What is the format of the tournament?
A.  We will play three tournament rounds as 2-person Best Ball in which case both players complete the hole.  The lower of the two scores is the "Team" score.  For pace of play purposes, we have a Par +3 rule which means if you are 3 over on the hole, players are to pick up and assist the rest of the group in finishing out the hole.  Therefore, the maximum team score for any hole is par +3.    The Thursday and Friday afternoon rounds will be played as 2-Person Scramble format in which case both players hit then choose which ball location to play the next shot.  You may move your ball location up to one club length without getting closer to the hole or changing terrain (eg. cannot go from rough to fairway, etc).    USGA® rules are in effect at all times during play.  Please note that the 2006 event is limited to 48 players so register early!

Q.  How do I sign up for the Myrtle Beach Two-Person Team Challenge?
A.  You may sign up securely online at www.golfconnect.com, call the Golf Connect office at 952.947.4001, or print out a Tournament Entry form and mail/ fax in.  Note that only credit card payment (Visa or Mastercard) is accepted.  Sorry, no checks.

Q.  What is the cost for the event?
A.  Golf, lodging and Saturday dinner is $699 per person (based on double occupancy).  If you have different accommodations, the cost for the golf tournament (5 rounds) and Saturday dinner is $559.  Your entry fee includes 5 rounds of golfer, lodging (if applicable), a welcome reception Wednesday evening, a tournament dinner Saturday evening, welcome gifts, and qualifies you for the Placement Prize pool of $1,000 paid to the top 30% of the field (with 48 players).    You may participate in the Side Games (see below) for additional opportunities to win great prizes.

Q.  What and how much are Side Games?
A.  Side Games are fun skill contests like Closest to the Pin, Longest Drives, and Longest Putts.  Cost to enter Side Games for all 5 rounds is $100 per person (payable as cash at registration Wednesday evening or prior to the first tournament round).  Side Games award some large prizes such items as drivers, wedges, putters, golf balls, as well as many smaller items (values between $199 and $25).  There will be more than 20 separate contests and participants in the Side Games also qualify for an additional prize pool payout to the top 3 teams of the recreational 2-person Scramble rounds (amount determined by size of Side Games pool).

Q.  What is the Prize Payout?
A.  With a full field of 48 players, we will award the following $1,000 Placement Prize payout for the three 2-Person Best Ball tournament rounds.  If less than 48 players, a $25 per person prize pool is paid out to the top 5 place teams.  Note that all placement prize money is payable as Golf Galaxy gift certificates that can be redeemed in-store or online at www.golfgalaxy.com and that amounts are per TEAM (eg. $300 = $150 per player).

48 Players (Full Field) - $1,000 Prize Pool

1st place team - $300
2nd place team - $200
3rd place team  - $150
4th place team  - $100
5th place team  - $80
6th place team  - $70
7th place team  - $60
8th place team  - $40
If Less than 48 Players - $25 Per Person Prize Pool

1st Place team  - 30% of pool
2nd Place team  - 25% of pool
3rd Place team  - 20% of pool
4th Place team  - 15% of pool
5th Place team  - 10% of pool

Q.  Do I need a USGA® Handicap Card?
A.  No.  All tournament rounds are contested at scratch to avoid issues with sandbagging.  If you have a verifiable USGA® handicap index, though, bring an up-to-date (revision date after September 1, 2005) card as players of different skills will use different tee boxes.  If you do not have a handicap card, you can get one online at www.GolfGalaxy.com (join the Golf Galaxy Golf Club).  Note that you need 5 rounds posted to calculate a handicap index.

Q.  May I request to play with another two-some?
Yes.  We will be scheduling pairing approximately 10 days prior to the event.  After registering, you will receive a confirmation email with the opportunity to request pairings.  We encourage you to round up additional teams and can pair you with different teams each of the 3 days if desired.

Q.  Where will the event registration be held?
A.  The Player Registration and Welcome Reception will be held at at the Hotel in a hospitality suite on Wednesday evening from 7:45-9:30PM.  Enjoy beverages, snacks, pick up your tournament information packet with tee times, register for the side games, and get to know the staff and other players.

Q.  Can I have a caddy?
A.  No. Caddies will not be permitted for this event.

Q.  Can I have a guest and/or an extra cart on the course?
A.  No.  Because of liability, distraction, and course capacity reasons we do not allow additional guests to accommodate tournament participants.

Q.  Which courses will we play on which days?
A.  Refer to the above itinerary to view courses.  All courses have been carefully selected to be of premium quality and provide a fun, fair test of golf while earning a reputation for their excellent conditioning and staff.

Q.  What time do I tee off?
A.  When you check in Wednesday evening, your tournament information packet will include your actual tee times but will be sometime between 7:15 AM Thurs and Fri and 1:10 - 2:10 PM Saturday.  Please arrive at the course at least 30 minutes prior to your tee time to allow time for check in and warm up.

Q.  Which tees do I play from?
A.  Golfers will play from different tee boxes based on skill level and will be identified on your scorecard when you arrive at the course and check in.  Those that can provide a verifiable, up-to-date USGA handicap card with a handicap index of 12.0 or higher may play from closer tees.  Tees for the events will range between 6,000 - 6,500 yds for further (usually middle) tees and between 5,800 - 6,200 for closer tees.  Golfers aged 55 or older may use the closer tees.  Women will play from the forward tees.

Q. Can I register to play even though I don't have a partner?
A.  If you do not have a playing partner but would like to attend, please contact the Golf Connect office at 952.947.4001 or email your contact info (name, phone, email) to us at info@golfconnect.com.  We will keep your information on file and, if we are able to pair you up with another single, will accept your application.  Because of double occupancy restrictions and the two-person team format, we must be able to assure that no one will be finally accepted without a designated playing partner.

Q.  What happens in the event of a tie?
A.  In such case, the next place prize pool amount is added to that place and divided by two.  eg. First place awards $300, Second Place awards $200.  Both teams would receive a prize payout amount of $250.

Q.  Where are the evening social gatherings taking place?
A.  We will be working with frequent visitors, our travel coordinator, and locals to determine the best locations for evening social activites.  When you turn in your scorecard after the afternoon rounds on Thursday and Friday, we will give you a sheet with directions and the location for our gathering place.  You may choose to come if you wish or fulfill your own plans/ desires.

Q.  When will the Dinner Party and Awards Ceremony will be held?
A.  From 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm on Saturday evening at Captain George's Seafood Restaurant and there will be a seafood buffet dinner including non-alcoholic beverages.  A cash bar is available if desired.  We will award as many of the prizes as we are able (eg. Side Games items) and mail Placement Prize gift certificate amounts within 5 days following the tournament.

Q.  How do I book the extra Wednesday round?
A.  On Wednesday afternoon (noon tee time) you have the option of playing an additional round at the International World Tour golf course.  Cost is an additional $145 to play and this round MUST be booked through Golf Connect at the time of your registration for the event (or call to add it on if you decide later to play).  When you are completing your entry form, check the box and the national office will confirm your details after your registration is received.

Q.  What happens in the event of weather delays?
A.  The Golf Connect Staff will do everything possible to get all holes completed for the event should there be any delays due to inclement weather.  Should the course be deemed unplayable or dangerous lightning is eminent; the event may be reduced to a shortened number of holes. We will do everything possible to get all 90 holes completed but all players should be sure to check with the staff for any possible changes to tee times and/or events.  PLEASE be prepared for any weather condition including heat/cold and sun/rain.

Q.  What are the transportation/parking details for the event?
A.  Each player is responsible for his/her own transportation to and from the airport, resort and golf courses during the event.  Be sure to allow sufficient time for travel between venues.  If you are coming as a foursome and will be sharing a rental car, be sure to request that you play all rounds together so that your teams may remain and travel together between morning and afternoon rounds.

Q.  Can we use a rangefinder during play?
A.  The tournament committee has made a decision to allow use of GPS and range finding devices based on new rules changes on behalf of the USGA which now allow them in tournament play.

Q.  How do I book extra room nights and what is the cost?
A.  Extra room nights may be booked through our group travel coordinator Steve Grabowski with Carolina Golf Beach Vacations.

Q.  Can myself and my partners spouses come along?
A.  Yes!  Additional rooms may be obtained to accommodate couples traveling together.  Contact us at info@golfconnect.com to let us know your special needs.

Q.  Are there any special rates for participants on car rentals or flights?
A.  We do not have any partnerships or discounts with with airlines or rental car companies but are working on them.  If we do secure anything, we will add that information to this site so be sure to check back here just before you book your flight or car.  Travel websites such as www.expedia.com and www.orbitz.com often offer discounts if you purchase your flight and car rental together.

Q.  Am I required to turn off my cell phone during the round?
A.  Yes.  For the enjoyment of all players in your group, please be respectful and turn off your cell phone or silence your pager prior to the round.  On course conversations are distracting to other players and slow down pace of play.

Q.  I play on a Golf Galaxy Tour in my city.  Will my individual tournament round scores be posted and count towards my Tour handicap (for VIP members)?
A.  Yes.  If you are a VIP member of a local Golf Galaxy tour, be sure to check the box on the entry form identifying yourself as a VIP so we can post your scores for you (applies to the Best Ball rounds only).  New VIP members for 2006 may accumulate 3 rounds towards their required minimum of 5 rounds that it takes to calculate a Tour handicap.
